Again it’s been a while since I posted an update. Perhaps even longer than the last gap – but I make no apologies. For no news is often good news and the same goes for the volunteering clients who are now near the end of the process. Or are they?
The progress made by the volunteers has been nothing short of fantastic. It hasn’t been easy. Blood, sweat and tears? In some cases, there have been tears. With this weather, a fair amount of sweat but thankfully no blood!
The time has come to set Goals. The Firm, achievable Short and Mid-Term goals that will contribute to the Long-Term Goals in whichever specific area of life or work that is to be achieved. This is what I call the Target Scenario.
This stage is the culmination of many weeks’ work in deciphering individual identities, mindsets and values. Much of which comes as a surprise when really focused upon. The realisation that one’s current situation – whether this be in a relationship, work or any other area of life – is completely against the grain of the natural self can often come as a surprise.
Setting Goals
A single word with so many connotations. Just like a seasoned footballer, very few goals are often the same. However, there are common elements that apply to all. They come with effort, practise and planning. The same is said for one’s career, relationship or such like.
The help in determining goals from the coaching perspective is the result of attending to the client 100%. Listening and probing to establish an atmosphere of empathic understanding along the journey. The benefit for the client is that through this, they are able to discover levels of awareness and creativity which have very rarely if ever been reached beforehand.
The goals are never easy to set. Some wish to list things out like a “To-do” list, whilst others prefer a more “project” type approach, driven by milestones, deadlines and even “traffic lights” (which prove that even the most hated of things can have a benefit!).
The penultimate part is the plan. We all know the expression: failing to plan is planning to fail. Very true words. The action steps; the deadline; ownership, challenges etc. everything has to be included.
Last but certainly not least is the client’s action. The putting into action all of the talk, all of the exercises and all of the time. This is the hardest part. As the coach, I can only hold the client accountable.
Going forward the process will no longer be free of charge. The testimonials which will appear on the website and Facebook page over the coming weeks will demonstrate the value of the process. Everything within reason is achievable.
If you’d like to review any area of your life, be it career, relationship or even help with a new or existing business. I can help. Without doubt. By all means, contact me to discuss.
Until next time,
Your Coach Ben
