Getting To The Core

So following a week-long break to move apartment last week, I’m back in the hot seat and helping my clients to help themselves move forward. It’s been an eventful couple of weeks since the “Lift-Off! Progress has been stark and swift. Again a huge thanks to my current volunteers who are going through the coaching process. It’s been tough at times as people look into personal mind boxes which have been firmly shut for many a year.

In truth all have taken to the challenge with great enthusiasm despite the aforementioned difficulties. It’s surprising, and scary at the same time, just how easily we all jump into the “rat race” without a firm plan as to how we’re going to fear – literally, in the long run. Without a firm grasp of what truly fulfils us, life simply drifts by.

Core Values and Boundaries

The establishing of Core Values has been an eyeopener for all of the clients. This is generally because people often don’t take the time to think and reflect about what really makes them tick and the Boundaries they place around those drivers.

Our initial aims and ambitions are often conceded to the need to make ends meet or to satisfy the expectations of others. This usually means bypassing the boundaries which come with one’s own values. Accepting a job we don’t really wish to. Staying in a job too long. Living outside of our specific preferences. Accepting second best. Not taking a chance based on our inner passions.

To this end, and in order to be fulfilled in life, it’s essential that we don’t lose site of our ambitions and take regular stock of where we are in relation thereto. Equally important is to ensure those ambitions are true to who we are, and acceptable at the same time.

Perception is the enemy of truth. Finding out what it is we truly want, as opposed to what others want for us – or what we perceive, can be quite a daunting task. The job of me or any other coach, be it privately or in business is to establish the truth and help you to work towards living it.

I often wonder how many key moments of discovery in our lifetimes have been lost to the pursuit of lives that don’t match the souls in which they live. This is something we’ll never know. At the same time we can ensure – starting with ourselves – that we don’t increase whatever number this may be. You only live once. Make the most of it.

Until next time.
